PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS
Changes a foot – at the last Board meeting the Directors considered if we should continue with all meeting duties. The decision was made to continue with the 3-minute talk, sergeant sessions and the introduction and thanking speaker role to merge into one. The cashier and attendance roles also remain. That means grace, raffle and last word duties have been disbanded. With Gil back in charge of the Bulletin, the new duty roster will start from Tuesday 19 November 2019. From next year we will also be having formal meetings every second week, with activity or social events every other week. Our last official meeting this year will be 10 December 2019 at the Cellar Door. Our first formal meeting will be 28 January 2020 (subject to confirmation of venue). Keep an eye out for information about a casual meeting night and BBQ on 21 January 2020.

Rotary Giving – In the last month the Club has given a $1,000 donation to Polio Plus and presented the Rotary Dux Scholarship to Dux Rory Smith at DHS. Rory was our Rotary National Science & Technology Forum attendee in January this year. We have also pledged $5,000 to Dunstan Arm Rowing Club for a new Filippi Eight boat.

Alexandra Community House Gardens.

There is simply 4 people on each week, every week. Obviously busier in summer, little to do in winter.
It is the responsibility of the 4 of you to organise it amongst yourselves to get the work done at some stage during the week, preferably after 5:30 for lawn mowing given the mowers may disrupt meetings. If you can’t make it in your week, swap with someone who can.
The Work:
  1. There is regular work which is mowing the lawns, trimming the edges, weeding the gardens, wedding/clearing the carpark and sweeping the paths. This will be the responsibility for the 4 people shown on the roster.
  2. There is periodic work which is trimming the hedges and shrubs, treating the lawns (fertiliser, weeds, moss) and cleaning the gutters. The organising team will schedule those as required and they may well be part of your roster.
You will need a lawn mower or two, occasionally a weed eater, a trailer for removing green waste and forks etc for weeding and a broom for sweeping the paths.
There is an internal courthouse garden that needs to be maintained, the organising team has an after hours key, but it can be done during the day.
Please ensure that you wear ear muffs when using the lawn mower and ear muffs
and safety glasses when using weed eaters. This is part of the agreed safety plan and needs to be adhered to.
If there are any concerns, queries etc, please contact anyone of the organising team as shown at the bottom of the roster and copied here.
